The Story Behind Leviou — Precision Engineering, Designed in Sweden

Most decorative objects are chosen for how they look on a shelf. Leviou was created for something more demanding — to float above it. This is the story of how a precision engineering obsession became a premium magnetic levitation brand, designed from the ground up in Gävle, Sweden.

Where it started

Leviou was born from a simple but relentless question: why does levitation — one of the most visually arresting phenomena in physics — remain confined to laboratories and industrial machinery? The technology to suspend an object in mid-air using magnetic fields has existed for decades. Yet almost nothing in the world of home design or luxury decor had made serious use of it.

That absence felt like an opportunity. Not to make a gadget, but to make something genuinely beautiful — an object that happened to defy gravity as quietly and naturally as a candle produces light.

The Swedish design philosophy

Sweden has a long tradition of producing design that refuses to choose between function and elegance. From furniture to industrial tools to consumer electronics, the Scandinavian design ethos has always insisted that the way something works and the way it looks are not separate considerations — they are the same consideration.

Leviou is rooted in that tradition. Every piece in the collection is designed with the same discipline: nothing unnecessary, nothing decorative for decoration's sake. The levitation is the design. The rotation is the design. The silence of a motor-free, friction-free object turning in space — that is the design.

The levitation is not a feature added to a sculpture. The sculpture is built around the levitation.

Engineered in Gävle

Leviou is designed and shipped from Gävle, a city on the Swedish coast with a quiet confidence in craft and precision. Every piece begins with material selection — the neodymium magnets, the resin compounds, the electromagnetic base components — chosen not for cost efficiency but for performance and longevity.

The resin sculptures are hand-finished, meaning no two pieces are entirely identical. The texture, depth, and character of each Fire, Orb, Lava, Geode, or Sphere carries the mark of the process that created it. This is not a limitation — it is the point. In a world of mass-produced objects, a Leviou piece is singular.

The collection

The Leviou lineup has been developed with deliberate restraint. Rather than flooding the market with variations, each sculpture in the collection — Fire, Orb, Sphere, Lava, Geode — represents a distinct visual language. Some reference the natural world. Some are purely abstract. All of them, when suspended above a Leviou base, become something that resists easy categorisation.

Are they art? Technology? Decor? The answer, and the reason people find them so difficult to look away from, is that they are genuinely all three.

The Core and Core Pro bases were designed to complement the sculptures without competing with them. Clean, minimal, available in black and white — they disappear beneath the floating object, which is exactly what a great base should do.

Custom work and collaboration

From early in Leviou's development, it became clear that the technology had applications beyond personal decor. Businesses, architects, event designers, and brand managers began enquiring about custom pieces — objects bearing their own logos, symbols, or products, suspended and rotating in reception areas, at trade stands, in flagship stores.

Leviou now works directly with clients to design and produce custom levitating displays. Each collaboration begins with a brief and ends with a floating object that carries the client's identity in a way no framed print or illuminated sign ever could. The custom logo display has become one of Leviou's most requested products — and one of the most visible, given where these pieces tend to end up.

Shipped worldwide from Sweden

Every Leviou piece — whether a sculpture ordered from the core collection or a bespoke commission for a global brand — is packed and shipped from Gävle. Free worldwide shipping is not a promotional offer; it is a deliberate commitment to making Leviou accessible to anyone, anywhere, who values the work that goes into each piece.

The packaging itself is designed to reflect the product inside it: protective, considered, and worthy of what it contains. Unboxing a Leviou piece should feel like the beginning of something, not simply the end of a delivery.
